We recently made another trip to Housewerks in Baltimore’s Pigtown neighborhood and found this awesome Appleton Form 100 industrial cage light circa 1940’s. Fran has always been a big fan of these lights so we decided to get it…
The people at Housewerks said it came from an old factory in the Baltimore area. It was in pretty good shape. As you can see above it had some rust on the base, but otherwise was very sturdy. These lights were normally found in factory hallways just outside entrance doors.
I painted the rusted base with an oil rubbed bronze metal paint and wired it up. It cleaned up well and is now mounted as an awesome accent light in our kitchen next to the basement door as shown below. We love finding old architectural features and giving them a new life. Fun stuff! Tom~
